Foundations and Applications of Emergence (FAEME) has an open call for workshops and visitors.

FAEME is a research priority area at the Faculty of Science at the University of Amsterdam focused on understanding Emergence. FAEME involves researchers from the institutes the Van 't Hoff Institute for Molecular Sciences (HIMS), the Korteweg-de Vries Institute for Mathematics (KdVI), the Institute of Physics (IoP), the Institute for Logic, Language and Computation (ILLC), the Informatics Institute (IvI), the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS), the Institute for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics (IBED) and the Anton Pannekoek Institute for Astronomy (API). 

 

Researchers within the above institutes are welcome to submit applications for workshop funding and visitors. Workshops and invited researchers should be aligned with the Core Problem of Emergence, and FAEME goals potentially also connecting with existing research efforts at DIEP@UvA (see also DIEP Fellows), AI4Science Lab, and AMCOOL.

Applications should follow the following guidelines:

• Visitors programme. Applications to fund visitors should contain the name and institute of the visitor(s), required budget, duration of the stay, a brief description of how the visit fits the goals of FAEME and how the institutes involved in FAEME and the FAEME community will benefit from these visits. Also do mention if there is a schedule of activities (seminars, etc) associated with these visits. Max 1 PDF page.

• Workshops. Applications to fund workshops should contain the topic of the workshop, a short description of its goals, potential location, key potential participants and respective affiliations, required budget, a brief description of how the workshops fits the goals of FAEME and how the institutes involved in FAEME and the FAEME community will benefit from the workshop. Max 1.5 PDF pages.

 

Applications for workshops and visitors funding will be accessed by the FAEME board.
